Piedmont Wind Symphony invites musicians from across the region to join us for a special community performance of Omar Thomas’s powerful and celebrated work, A Mother of a Revolution, during our upcoming concert, Band Together, on June 18, 2026.
This invitation comes in response to recent events surrounding the Watertown High School Wind Symphony in Watertown, Wisconsin, where students were unable to perform the work after months of preparation. Inspired by the conversations that followed and by the dedication of those student musicians, Piedmont Wind Symphony is opening this performance to community musicians as an opportunity to celebrate music’s ability to foster understanding, reflection, and connection.
Community band members, students, educators, and professional musicians are encouraged to perform alongside Piedmont Wind Symphony musicians in a shared musical experience centered on empathy, acceptance, and the power of bringing people together through music.
